Due to cultural and health system differences, refugees struggle to successfully navigate the U.S. system of care and may become vulnerable in different aspects of health services including inability to afford the costly out-of-pocket expenditures associated with childbirth complications and chronic conditions, including diabetes, heart disease, and hypertension. With the funds raised for health care programs, CAREUSTZ manages medical cases, bears out-of-pocket expenses, and offers opportunities for health screenings, awareness sessions, language services, treatment, and referrals to refugees and immigrants who have resettled in the United States for their independent and healthy future.
